Data Networking and Cabling Design, Installation & Maintenance

Data Networking and Cabling Design, Installation and Maintenance

Connect with us

PhoneLink is our sister company which covers a wide range of electrical systems, one of which is the design, installation and maintenance of data networking infrastructure. Our installers are Commscope, Molex and Connectix approved, all ou installations are tested using Fluke Networks Versiv DSX2-8000-INT CableAnalyser.

Recent projects have been carried out in; Carmarthen, Swansea, Treeforest, Treorchy, Talbot green, Eastleigh and Yatton, our installers are available to carry out installations throughout the UK.

Cabling standards

Careful planning is a must for new cable runs. This includes having a clear plan in place and ensuring that the cable is installed by a professional organisation. Correct installation procedures are a fundamental part of today's structured cabling industry. We are committed to ensuring that our cabling systems are installed quickly, professionally and coincide with the rapidly changing standards proposed by ISO/IEC and EIA/TIA.

One Vision Digital offer structured cabling services, structured cabling uses standardised components and installation methods to ensure that the cabling is robust, can be added to and modified as needed and is future-proofed.

Recent projects include data networking and cabling installations in; schools, offices, student accommodations and hotels. We have the experience to tackle projects of any size, past projects range in size from adding or changing data points to complete installations with over 500 data points.

All of our networking installations are tested with industry-standard equipment and come with a 25-year warranty.

Basic System Schematic

Below is a basic data network system that resembles a completed project of ours. All cabling is CAT6 or CAT5e to suit the customers' requirements.   Find out more on the differences between CAT6 and CAT5e.

Data cable installation service - Initial consultation

To understand your data cable installation requirements, we will have a consultation with you, key areas of information include:

Building structure

The scale of the project will vary depending on wether it’s an existing building that needs new wiring or additional cabling, or a new build.

We will carry out an onsite survey to ascertain the scale of the building or review your floor plans if you have them. This is important because copper ethernet cables have a maximum distance of 100 metres, anything above this will require a fibre connection.

Multimode fibre can run up to 400 metres at speed of 40GB+, for distances above 550 metres will require single mode fibre.

Establishing whether hazardous building materials are present in the building such as asbestos is an essential requirement before we can start work.

What is the project completion date?

Understanding the work completion date will enable us to plan installation to be completed within the desired timeline, for existing buildings where new data cabling is being added or replaced we will work with you to ensure disruption is kept to a minimum and to establish whether out of ours work will be required.

Number of voice and data drops required

A run of cable from from a starting point (nearest comms cabinet or server) to the end point (a floor/wall trunk or ceiling location)

Network speed required

Understanding your speed requirements will enable us to identify the correct type of cabling, data cabling types: CAT5e/Cat 6/Cat 6a & CAT 7 or, if fibre, then OM1/OM2/OM3/OM4 or OM5.

Type of ceiling or flooring in your building

There are two types of ceiling: a hard cap ceiling or a drop/acoustic suspended ceiling. Suspended ceilings are easier to work with because it provides better access for data cables.

Raised floors are common nowadays, suitable for underfloor cabling to floor ports containing mains power and ethernet connectivity. If non of these are options or desirable we can install wall trunking for the required cabling.

Is plenum or non-plenum cabling required?

Plenum cables are required in instances where the data cabling will be run in a ceiling that also holds the ventilation system. Plenum cables are coated in a fire-retardant jacket, which will limit the amount of smoke & toxic fumes, in the event of a fire.
