Project Overview
Hurst Place is a modern care home situated in Haywards Heath, South London. The facility comprises 58 one and two-bedroom apartments and 10 luxury cottages, designed to provide comfortable and high-quality living for its residents. Construction of Hurst Place commenced in 2015 and was completed in 2017.
To ensure residents had access to a wide range of television services, One Vision Digital Ltd was commissioned to design and install a comprehensive Satellite Master Antenna Television (SMATV) system throughout the facility.
Client Requirements
The primary objective was to implement a centralised television distribution system that would:
- Provide access to both terrestrial (Freeview) and satellite (Sky, Freesat) television services in all apartments and cottages.
- Maintain high signal quality and reliability across the entire facility.
- Eliminate the need for individual satellite dishes or aerials, preserving the building's aesthetic appeal.
- Allow for future scalability and easy maintenance.
Our Solution
To meet these requirements, One Vision Digital Ltd installed a robust 5-wire SMATV distribution system, which included:
- Centralised Reception Equipment: Installation of a satellite dish and aerial to receive a comprehensive range of television signals.
- Launch Amplifier: Deployment of a high-quality amplifier to distribute signals efficiently throughout the building.
- Multiswitches: Integration of Triax 5-wire multiswitches to manage signal distribution to each apartment and cottage.
- Quality Cabling: Use of high-grade coaxial cabling to ensure minimal signal loss and optimal performance.
This configuration ensures that each living space receives a full range of television services with excellent picture and sound quality, enhancing the residents' experience.
Project Outcome
The successful implementation of the SMATV system at Hurst Place resulted in:
- Enhanced Resident Satisfaction: Residents enjoy a wide selection of television channels with consistent signal quality.
- Aesthetic Preservation: The centralised system negates the need for multiple external dishes or aerials, maintaining the building's visual integrity.
- Future-Proof Infrastructure: The scalable design allows for easy integration of additional services or upgrades as technology evolves.
