SMATV Installation at Urban Quarter, Swansea
Project Overview
Urban Quarter is a dynamic mixed-use development located in the heart of Swansea. Spanning 30,000 square feet over five floors, this creative cluster provides an affordable and cutting-edge hub for small, independent creative businesses, as well as the performing arts. The ground floor offers opportunities for a restaurant or coffee shop, enhancing the community-focused atmosphere of the development.
To support the diverse needs of its occupants, One Vision Digital Ltd was commissioned to design and install a comprehensive Satellite Master Antenna Television (SMATV) system throughout the facility.
Client Requirements
The primary objectives for the SMATV system installation were:
- Provide access to both terrestrial (Freeview) and satellite (Sky, Sky Q, Sky+, Freesat) television services.
- Ensure the availability of multilingual channels to cater to the diverse community of residents and businesses.
- Implement a scalable and maintainable infrastructure for future upgrades.
Our Solution
To meet these requirements, One Vision Digital Ltd collaborated closely with Amberwell to implement a robust 9-wire SMATV distribution system, which included:
- Dual Satellite Integration: Installation of two satellite dishes aligned to ASTRA 28.2°E for Sky services and HOTBIRD 13.0°E for multilingual channels, including Turkish, Spanish, and Arabic.
- Signal Distribution: Deployment of a 9-wire Televes SMATV multi-switch to distribute signals efficiently throughout the building.
- Quality Cabling: Use of high-grade coaxial cabling to ensure minimal signal loss and optimal performance.
This configuration ensures that each unit within Urban Quarter receives a full range of television services with excellent picture and sound quality, enhancing the experience for both residents and businesses.
