Maddock place, Swansea

Near to where the new build is and where we worked is The Vetch Field. The Vetch was a football stadium in Swansea, Wales. It was used for football matched and was the home ground for Swansea City untill the club moved to the newly built Liberty Stadium in 2005. Opened in 1912, the ground held around 12,000 at the time of its closure, but upwards of 30,000 at its peak. Football was played on the Vetch by local amateur teams from the late nineteenth century. Athletics and cycling also took place at the ground at this time.
