SMATV Installation at Heathfield Square, Wandsworth
Project Overview
Heathfield Square is a residential development situated at the northern end of Trinity Road within the Wandsworth Common Conservation Area in London. The area is predominantly residential, with the exception of HMP Wandsworth, whose west wall runs parallel to the site. The development comprises 18 new homes, including three-storey houses and apartments. The project aimed to establish an improved pedestrian network link as part of a high-quality housing scheme, enhancing surveillance and creating an active frontage onto Heathfield Square.
To provide residents with reliable and high-quality television services, One Vision Digital Ltd was commissioned to design and install a comprehensive Satellite Master Antenna Television (SMATV) system throughout the development.
Client Requirements
The primary objectives for the SMATV system installation were:
- Deliver access to both terrestrial (Freeview) and satellite (Sky, Freesat) television services in all 18 homes.
- Ensure consistent signal quality and reliability across the entire development.
- Eliminate the need for individual satellite dishes or aerials, preserving the building's aesthetic appeal.
- Provide a scalable and easily maintainable infrastructure to accommodate future technological advancements.
Our Solution
To meet these requirements, One Vision Digital Ltd collaborated closely with Denmark & White to implement a robust 5-wire SMATV distribution system, which included:
- Centralised Reception Equipment: Installation of satellite dishes and aerials to receive a comprehensive range of television signals.
- Launch Amplifiers: Deployment of high-quality amplifiers to distribute signals efficiently throughout the development.
- Multiswitches: Integration of Triax 5-wire multiswitches to manage signal distribution to each home.
- Quality Cabling: Use of high-grade coaxial cabling to ensure minimal signal loss and optimal performance.
This configuration ensures that each home receives a full range of television services with excellent picture and sound quality, enhancing the residents' experience.
