SMATV Installation at Maddock Place, Swansea

SMATV Installation at Maddock Place, Swansea

Project Overview

Maddock Place is a contemporary residential development situated near the historic Vetch Field in Swansea, Wales. The development comprises multiple flats designed to provide comfortable living spaces for residents. To enhance the entertainment options within these homes, One Vision Digital Ltd was commissioned to design and install a comprehensive Satellite Master Antenna Television (SMATV) system throughout the property.

Client Requirements

The primary objectives for the SMATV system installation were:

  • Provide residents with access to both terrestrial (Freeview) and satellite (Sky) television services.
  • Ensure high-quality signal reception in both lounge and bedroom areas.
  • Implement a scalable and maintainable infrastructure for future upgrades.

Our Solution

To meet these requirements, One Vision Digital Ltd collaborated with BFL Electrical to implement a robust 5-wire SMATV distribution system, which included:

  • Satellite Alignment: Installation of a satellite dish aligned to ASTRA 28.8°E to receive Sky signals.
  • Signal Distribution: Deployment of a 5-wire distribution system to deliver signals efficiently throughout the building.
  • Outlet Configuration: Installation of 60 points in total—30 for recording and satellite TV in the lounges and 30 for terrestrial TV in the bedrooms.

This configuration ensures that each flat receives a full range of television services with excellent picture and sound quality, enhancing the residents' experience.

Project Outcome

The successful implementation of the SMATV system at Maddock Place resulted in:

  • Enhanced Resident Satisfaction: Residents enjoy a wide selection of television channels with consistent signal quality.
  • Efficient Infrastructure: The centralised system simplifies maintenance and allows for future scalability.
  • Aesthetic Preservation: The design negates the need for multiple external dishes or aerials, maintaining the development's visual integrity.
